Video Lessons For Piano

Some people still avoid nontraditional methods such as video lessons.  They are not comfortable with the idea that a student is ‘turned loose’ to do their own ‘thing’.  They are misjudging the potential for learning by doing so.

Time is a consideration for most people and video offers a way to save time.  Everyone has a busy schedule and trying to get to a traditional lesson may or may not be practicable.  In addition they often don’t care for conventional classes and frankly have little patience for sitting through them.

People usually like a multi-media type class more so than a conventional classroom environment.  Video lessons provide a degree of freedom in that the student can pick the time most opportune for them to watch it.  They might decide to watch a few minutes each day or in one setting at an odd hour!  That is convenient and therein lies the lure for such a course.

Take a look at this EXAMPLE COURSE

The internet offers a terrific advantage with streaming video which allows you to access the course at any time without using up your hard drive space with large media files.  Again a convenience that people appreciate!  Students will gravitate to that level of flexibility where they can attend their lesson without having to schedule a live instructor.

The best of the video programs out there have a very good system of activity based learning.  In this type of learning a person watches an example playing of a passage then they go to their keyboard and repeat what they just heard.  The real advantage is in being able to replay the passage until it is assimilated by the student who can then repeat the performance or example.  They can the replay the lesson and pick up on the finer techniques demonstrated by the instructor.  This style of learning is extremely beneficial in comparison to a traditional approach with an instructor.

There is another big deal here.  It tends to be more enjoyable and when you can add that to learning you have a winning formula.  If people enjoy they come back.  Getting them to come back for more lessons translates into more learning and they come to see the lessons as fun instead of something to dread.  As you learn to enjoy you learn the art of piano playing.
