One of the characteristic of art is that it cannot be bounded in syllabus. You cannot learn art solely by going to college or by taking tuitions. Like any other art from music is also a medium of expressing. Learning music from the college helps in understanding the technicalities of classical music and with the help of it you can create some good compositions, but if you want to create an outstanding everlasting composition you must think like a great composer, i.e. you must think beyond the technicalities.

You can make a good composition even if you don’t know the full technicalities of ancient music. All you have to learn is to put your ideas on paper and thinking about them in phrases.

A most common way suggested by many music theory books is to create one complete structure i.e. melody harmony climax everything included in it. Well it is a way of creating a composition but it is not the only way and for those who find it difficult to block out entire session it may be useful.

You might have heard about eight bar phrases in a musical composition and wondered why eight bar phrases are so popular. It is very easy space to work and with the help of it you can build small sections and then you can convert them into the larger sections. For example, if you want to create a melody starting with a F major, just write out the eight bars on the paper and notate the key you are playing.

Write out  when the chord changes like the next two bars comes to be B flat major, the first two keys in 8 bar phrase gives you melodic idea. Keep working in a same manner and you will be easily blocked out the entire session of music. Keep making 8 bar phrases and you will find it very easy to add more phrases of music.
