Pioneer PD-F407 25-Disc CD-File Changer
May 17th, 2010
I bought Pioneer PD-F407 25-Disc CD-File Changer to replace a 5-disc carousel-type CD changer that was still working fine. I wanted longer uninterrupted playing times than the 5-CD carousel could provide, but find the 300-CD and 400-CD changers too annoying to load and unload. To me, CD changers that hold 15 to 25 discs strike a happy medium between being able to have music playing all day long and not taking that long to load up compared with the changers that hold 300-400 discs, and I am surprised that more manufacturers do not make such players.
Compared with my 5-disc CD carousel changer, this player does take slightly longer to unload/load discs when played in random mode, but most of the time, that extra latency is not noticeable. I also miss having the remote control and having the ability to swap out some discs while another disc is playing, both of which were available on my 5-disc carousel.
But if you take into account the sub-$100 price, Pioneer PD-F407 25-Disc CD-File Changer is an awesome player for parties or for listening to all-day music where you just want to listen to your music and not have to worry about changing CDs. This is second Pioneer 25 disc CD player I’ve owned, after many years of faithful service the old one gave up the ghost. Faced with the prospect of looking for a new CD player, I was so happy to discover the same model is still in production. Simple to load and use, it interfaces with my existing Pioneer unit allowing me to control several functions with one remote, instead of the normal handful required to operate different electronic components.
As my mood changes, I like the convenience of putting in multiple CD’s and listening without having to get up and change the disc. I’ll often put on three to four hours of music and either read or work around the house. Would I buy again? Absolutely!
I purchased Pioneer PD-F407 for my husband for his birthday in August 2007. We like to spend all day outside by the pool or doing yard work. He can put this on and it will play all day long. It has a variety of settings for random play and you can also select a few programs of songs to play as well (favorites for example). So far so good, but he has only had it for a month or so.
