The saxophone is a terrific instrument really worth learning. You can make the instrument produce an assortment of tones that you can combine in many different ways to produce music. Mastering the saxophone, however, will demand not just the will to learn but also training and hard work. The following tips on excelling in adult saxophone lessons can help.
- Determination – You have to persevere decisively to really be a master of this instrument.
- Dedication – you have to have extreme dedication to accomplish a task as hard as this. Even when you don’t feel like playing you need to practice and you need to attend adult saxophone classes. Dedication and perseverance are keys to making this effort a success.
- Play the right saxophone. You need to take the time to find the saxophone you like, one that gives you the tones you need for the type of music you want.
- Find ideal conditions. You have to feel comfortable holding the sax and playing the notes. Practice until you get the sound that makes you feel happy with your instrument.
- Learn how to properly hold the sax – The way you hold the sax and move your fingers along its length should be correct in order to master this instrument.
- Get to know different techniques. This will improve your sound and make it melodious. You will need to learn diaphragm control, how to manipulate your tongue, and how to control air pressure on the sax to really excel at playing it.

- Just take enjoyment in every step of the process and don’t think about being perfect this early.
Celebrate the small achievements. Try to give yourself time to learn things and not put pressure on your playing. Commit yourself totally to the process and see the it through to the end with steely determination. Don’t expect perfection but celebrate the achievement of small goals, without losing sight of the ultimate goal.
Just listen to what your teacher tells you to do and strive to build a better working relationship with him.
