Making and producing your own hip hop beats has become a much less complicated task now that you can find a number of beat making software. These days, writing your own beats does not mean entirely that you have to have the skill to read music. Making beats is fun and easy to do, which is probably why it is expanding in popularity.
Many people are still scared off composing in this interesting musical form because they still think you need to have loads of expensive equipment. This is completely false. Although you do need some basic stuff, none of it is complex as long as you learn how to use it. The secret to becoming a hip hop beat maker is knowing what you really do need.
The primary pieces of equipment that you need are a computer with a decent set of speakers, and some software programs to help you with sounds and putting your piece together. Gone are the days when you had to buy tons of stuff.
Do not go out and spend hundreds of dollars on beat making software right out of the gate. These programs are directed for pros and when you are just starting out, you could be using up a ton of time as well as money. For under forty dollars, you can invest in an online beat maker program which will get you started generating very professional sounding beats quickly.
Some of these cheaper software programs have built in samples which are geared for hip hop production and have many of the sounds you will need. Also, most of the less expensive programs are manufactured for beginners, which can cut the learning curve in half, if not more.
As soon as you are set up, go through all of tutorials which come with the software. You will be thankful you did. Put different things together and see what sounds good to you. There is no correct way or incorrect way to make a beat. When it sounds good to you, then you got it. This is probably the best way to learn.
